At Windyway, we have always believed that the mission to protect vulnerable animals is a shared one. No single charity can do it all, and the challenges we face are best met with a spirit of collaboration and community. We are incredibly proud of our role as an established rescue in the Macclesfield area, and with that position comes a responsibility to support the wider animal welfare network.
That is why a core part of our charitable work involves acting as a supportive hub for smaller, often volunteer-run animal rescues in our region. By working together, we can ensure that our collective efforts have the greatest possible impact, helping more animals find the safety and love they deserve.
Our position allows us to help our fellow rescues in several practical and meaningful ways, ensuring that the generosity of our own supporters can be felt far and wide.
We are fortunate to receive a huge volume of wonderful donations from the public, from pet food and toys to blankets and bedding. When we have a surplus, we ensure these vital goods don't just sit in storage. We actively share them with smaller organisations who may be struggling to source these essential items.
Smaller rescues can quickly reach capacity, leaving them unable to take in the next desperate animal that needs their help. Where possible, we assist by taking animals from these rescues into our own care, giving them a space at our centre and a fantastic chance of finding a new family through our established rehoming programme.
Through our own charitable funds, we can sometimes offer financial assistance to smaller rescues for essential procedures like neutering or emergency vet treatment for an animal in their care. This helps ease their financial burden and ensures more animals get the urgent medical attention they need.
Having been established for many years, we have a wealth of experience in the challenges of running a rescue. We are always happy to offer friendly advice and guidance to smaller organisations on everything from fundraising and governance to animal care best practices.
