Home Charitable services Assisting with vet’s fees
We understand that an unexpected accident or illness can be an incredibly stressful time for any pet owner. The worry for your beloved companion, combined with the pressure of an unforeseen vet’s bill, can feel overwhelming. At Windyway, our mission is to keep pets in loving homes, and we believe that financial difficulty alone shouldn’t force a family to say goodbye to a cherished member.
Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we have a small, dedicated fund to help local pet owners in genuine financial hardship with the cost of essential and unexpected veterinary treatment.
This service is designed to act as a safety net for those in our community facing a genuine crisis. It’s important to understand how we can and cannot help.
Our fund is intended to provide a contribution towards the cost of essential, unforeseen treatments that are necessary to alleviate suffering and have a good chance of success.
Please note, as a charity with limited resources, our scheme cannot cover:
Routine, preventative treatments (e.g., vaccinations, flea/worming, health checks).
Non-essential or cosmetic procedures.
The cost of pre-existing conditions known about before you owned the pet.
Bills for treatment that has already taken place.
Every application is carefully considered by our welfare team, as we have a duty to use our supporters’ donations as responsibly as possible.
To apply for help, you must meet the following criteria:
You must live within our local area (Macclesfield and the immediate surrounding districts).
You must be the registered owner of the pet.
You must be able to demonstrate that you are in genuine financial hardship. We may ask for evidence of your circumstances (such as proof of benefits).
Your pet must have a condition that is treatable, with a good prognosis for a healthy and happy life following treatment.
If you find yourself in a difficult situation and meet the criteria above, please follow these steps.
Your vet must be the first point of contact. They need to examine your pet to provide a diagnosis, a recommended treatment plan, and a clear estimate of the costs involved.
Once you have the information from your vet, please contact our welfare team by emailing info@windyway.org or by calling us. Please do not proceed with treatment until you have spoken to us, as we cannot help with bills retrospectively.
We will need to know your vet's details, the proposed treatment and its cost, and your personal circumstances. This will allow our team to assess your application fairly.
All assistance is discretionary and subject to available funds. Our team will review your case as quickly as possible and will liaise directly with your vet. Any financial contribution we make will be paid directly to your veterinary practice.
Thank you so much for thinking of the animals at Windyway. Every single donation, no matter the size, is a lifeline for the cats, dogs, and other small animals in our care. Your generosity allows us to provide them with warmth, food, essential veterinary treatment, and the priceless chance to find a loving forever home.
